Biography

Dr. Alsaleh pursued his graduate studies in North America where he first earned an MSc degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, and then his doctoral degree in Toxicology from the University of Colorado, Denver, United States of America. His work focused on the molecular basis of disease, treatment, and toxicity. Specifically, his work during his MSc studies was focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of the protection of epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (arachidonic acid metabolites through the CYP450 pathway) against ischemic heart injury, whereas his doctoral thesis work was focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of nanomaterial-induced toxicity to the immune system, with a particular focus on silver nanoparticles and mast cell activation. Dr. Alsaleh joined the Faculty of Pharmacy at KSU in 2019, and since then, he has been working on multiple projects focused on understanding the molecular basis of toxicity of different types of engineered nanomaterials, including inorganic metals. Dr. Alsaleh has published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles in esteemed journals, including the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, Nanotoxicology, PloS One, Frontiers in Immunology and Nanomedicine: NBM.
