Dimitrios C. Angouras completed his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1990 and 1998, respectively. He completed his post-doctoral training as a Minimally Invasive and Robotic Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellow at the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA, from 2000 to 2002. He obtained the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons Certification in 2003. From 2004 to 2005, he served as an attending surgeon at Athens Medical Center. In 2005, he joined the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Over the years, he progressed from assistant professor in 2010, to associate professor in 2016, and ultimately to the position of professor and head in 2022.
