Mikhail E. Elyashberg graduated from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Tomsk, USSR, in 1959. He obtained a Ph.D. (in Phys.-Math.) from the Moscow Pedagogical University in 1970 and received a Doctor of Science (in Chem.) in 1984 from the Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences. Professor of Analytical Chemistry (1992). Started scientific work as a research engineer in Institute No. 4 of the USSR Ministry of Defense, Moscow (1959-1963). In 1963, he joined the All-Russian Institute for Organic Synthesis, Moscow, as a scientist. In 1981, he founded the Laboratory of Molecular Spectroscopy and headed it up to 2001. Since 1995 until now, he has been the leading researcher of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since 2001, he has been a senior scientist of ACD/Labs, Moscow Department. He has received the Laureate of Golden Medal and the State Award of Russian Federation (1999). More than 130 publications, including invited reviews and five books. Research interests: molecular spectroscopy (NMR, MS, IR/Raman) and computer-assisted structure elucidation (CASE).
