Riccardo Salvini received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Geological Sciences from the University of Siena, Italy, in 1996 and 2001, respectively. In 1998, he was awarded, with distinction. the Professional Master degree in Geoinformatics (Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing specialization) at ITC (International Institute of Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences, the Netherlands). In 2004, he was an Assistant Professor of Engineering Geology at the University of Siena and, since 2022, an Associate Professor at the same university. He mainly works in the fields of remote sensing, digital photogrammetry, GNSS positioning, and laser scanning applied to geological investigations. He is involved in research in Italy, Brazil, Libya, Turkey, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Ethiopia. Currently, he is the President of the Centre of Geotechnologies of the University of Siena. He is supervisor and co-supervisor of several B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD theses in Geological Sciences, Engineering Geology, and Geomatics. He has authored and co-authored publications in journals, volumes, and proceedings in conferences.
