I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. During my master's degree, I worked with water stress in plants. In my doctorate, my research focused on proteins that participate in the remodeling of the cell walls of plants to apply them for the use of biomass as a carbon source in various processes. During the postdoctorate, I worked with compounds with antiparasitic activity against Eimeria. As a principal researcher, I have focused on developing diagnostic tests for Mycoplasmas affecting cattle, as well as on genomics for identifying potential targets to control bovine anaplasmosis. Until now, our research group has reported the genomes of seven Mexican strains of Anaplasma marginale and two genomes of bovine hemoplasmas. Currently, we are investigating potential predicted targets for diagnosing the disease. An additional research line focuses on the role of the microbiota of the tick, its interaction with the pathogens it transmits, and the elucidation of its microbiota and microbiome.
