Fernando da Costa Ferreira graduated in Veterinary Medicine (2001) and obtained his PhD in Veterinary Sciences at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Lisbon (2008). He currently holds a position as Associate Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Lisbon. After his PhD, Fernando Ferreira published over 55 publications in international peer-reviewed Journals (44 as 1st author or last author, h-index = 22, citations = 1183), supervised 9 PhD students (7 completed), 40 MSc theses, and 3 postdoc researchers. He was also the author of oral communications in more than 50 international meetings, 20 national meetings, and poster presentations in another 35 international scientific meetings. He is a reviewer for many international scientific journals, including Nature Communications, Scientific Reports, PLOS Pathogens, Cancers, Biomedicines, and Vaccines. In 2019, Fernando Ferreira was awarded the Scientific Prize, "Universidade de Lisboa/Caixa Geral de Depósitos". Between 2016 and 2022, Fernando Ferreira was the President of the Portuguese Society of Veterinary Sciences.
