Xiaojie Wang earned his B.S. degree in fluid mechanics from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1989, followed by an M.S. degree in solid mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, in 1998. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, USA, in 2002. He spent over a decade conducting research on intelligent materials and devices at the University of Nevada, Reno. Currently, he is the Founder and Director of the Bio-Inspired Robotics and Intelligent Material Laboratory at the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Changzhou, China. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Science and Technology of China and as an External Supervisor with the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Technology Sydney, Ultimo, NSW, Australia. Dr. Wang has authored or coauthored more than 150 scientific publications, contributed chapters to three books, and holds six patents. His research interests include bio-inspired robotics, smart materials, sensors/actuators, and mechatronic systems.
