Dr. Flavio Pisani is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Periodontology and the Programme Lead for MSc/MClinDent in Clinical Periodontology. Flavio has long experience in PG and UG Periodontology, teaching in different universities in Italy and in the UK. He graduated with honors from the Catholic University of Rome Agostino Gemelli (Italy) in 1993. He holds a specialty in oral surgery, an MSc in implant dentistry and an MSc in periodontology from the SIdP Italian Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (EFP). He completed his PhD in dentistry in 2008 at the University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy) and is a visiting and adjunct professor at different Italian universities. He was previously head of the Periodontology Department and the course lead for the MSc/MClinDent at BPP University and the College of Medicine and Dentistry (Ulster University). In 2021, he moved to UCLan, where he is the lead of the MSc course in clinical periodontology. He is a member of the SIdPI/EFP and winner of the A. Gemelli Prize. He is the author of several publications and textbooks. He is actively involved in different research areas in the field, such as wound healing, periodontal regeneration, periodontitis and Alzheimer’s disease.
