Dr. Lingsheng Meng is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Oceanography at the University of Delaware whose research centers on applying remote sensing and deep learning to study ocean dynamics. He earned a dual Ph.D. in Oceanography (University of Delaware) and Physical Oceanography (Xiamen University). Dr. Meng develops advanced methods to extract dynamic ocean processes—such as overturning circulation, sea-level rise, ocean waves, and heat content—from satellite observations. His expertise lies in integrating Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) with machine learning to reconstruct subsurface ocean structures and to analyze ocean dyanmincs, such as retrieving ocean waves and detecting storm-induced coastal flooding. He has authored influential publications, including a landmark SAR review in Reviews of Geophysics and a perspective on subsurface ocean remote sensing in IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Magazine.
