Unai Fernandez-Gamiz received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Basque Country, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, in 1999 and 2004, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanics, Fluids, and Aeronautics from the UPC-Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain, in 2013. Since 2008, he has been a Full Lecturer with the Department of Energy Engineering, University of the Basque Country, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. He did a 5-month research stay in 2014 at the Brazilian Center for Renewable Energy-CER (Federal University of Pernambuco-Brazil), where he collaborated on the Fluid Dynamic Simulation project applied to large turbines. As a member of the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Fluid Mechanics at the UPV/EHU, his research is directly applicable to a wide variety of industrial flows. His main line of research is fundamentally dedicated to the design and analysis of active and passive flow control systems through fluid dynamic modeling.
