Xinyu Zhang received his doctorate with Prof. Alan G. MacDiarmid and Dr. Sanjeev K. Manohar in materials chemistry from the University of Texas, Dallas, in 2005. In the same year, he joined the department of chemical engineering at Auburn University as a professor. His research mainly focuses on microwave-initiated ultrafast nanomanufacturing for hierarchical, multifunctional nanomaterials and nanocomposites, multifunctional polymer coating for anti-corrosion and anti-microbial applications, and a green approach to conducting polymer-based nanocomposites for catalysis and for sensing and energy storage applications.
