Paulo Tambasco de Oliveira (DDS, PhD), Associate Professor of General and Oral Histology of the University of São Paulo (USP) at Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. Graduated in Dentistry at the School of Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto of the University of São Paulo – FORP/USP (1987), PhD in Oral Pathology by the Faculty of Dentistry of USP - São Paulo (1997) and Associate Professor of General and Oral Histology at FORP/USP since 2006. Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Laboratory for the Study of Calcified Tissues and Biomaterials of the Université de Montréal, Canada, 2001-2002. The work, supervised by Prof. Antonio Nanci, supported by FAPESP (Sao Paulo Research Funding Agency), focused on osteogenic differentiation in contact with biomaterials and defined his main research path. Since then, Dr. Paulo has engaged in the research of the interactions of osteoblastic cells with biomimetic surface nanotopographies, functionalized or not with bioactive organic molecules, using fluorescence imaging and molecular biology analyses. Due to his contributions to the field over the last 20 years, he has been given a productivity in research scholarship by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, Brazil). Dr. Paulo was also area coordinator for dental research at FAPESP from 2014 to 2022.
