Sofia Neves has a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Minho (2005), and a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from the same institution (1999). She is an Associate Professor at the University of Maia (UMaia), and the Coordinator of the Branch of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies (CIEG-ISCSP/ULisboa) in the UMaia. Her research areas, in which she has been coordinating several scientific projects, are domestic and gender-based violence, and discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation and identity and/or gender expression. Until 2026, she is the researcher responsible for the Portuguese team of the Uni4Equity Project - Strengthening universities' response to sexual harassment with an equity approach, funded by the European Commission. Since September 2024, she has been a Member of the Technical-Scientific Group of the Advisory Council of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality.
