Dr Manlio Tassieri is a Reader in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Glasgow, UK, where he has also served as Senior Adviser of Studies since 2017. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Leeds (2007) and a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II (2000). A former Royal Academy of Engineering/EPSRC Research Fellow, his research focuses on rheology, microrheology, soft matter physics and mechanobiology, with particular emphasis on developing innovative experimental and analytical techniques for characterising the viscoelastic properties of complex fluids and biological materials. He is the developer of the i-Rheo family of rheometric methods, enabling advanced broadband mechanical characterisation. He serves on the Executive Council of the European Society of Rheology and on several scientific editorial and advisory boards. His contributions have been recognised with the 2025 British Society of Rheology Annual Award and the 2025 UK Knowledge Transfer Partnership Technical Excellence Award for collaborative research with industry.
