Information

My research focuses on tackling antimicrobial resistance and unravelling bacterial diversity, evolution, and pathogenicity using molecular and phage-based approaches. I pioneered several preclinical studies to engineer and characterize therapeutic phages for Clostridioides difficile, Salmonella enterica, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli. I optimized molecular makers to probe phage effectiveness, developed novel phage cocktails, and optimized effective therapeutic regimens to clear bacteria in biofilm, Galleria mellonella, human batch fermentation, and cell line infection models. I formulate phages for optimal stability and pH-target release to enhance delivery and efficacy. I also help run global outreach programs with non-profit organizations to train many aspects of phage biology to scientists in developing countries. I am a Lecturer in the Department of Veterinary and Animal Science, Scotland Rural College Inverness, Scotland, UK, and am open to collaborations.
