Sergio Lorenzi received his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2005 at the University of Bergamo, and his doctoral degree in Mechatronics and Innovative Technologies in 2010 at the University of Bergamo (Faculty of Engineering). Since 2018 he has been a researcher in the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences (University of Bergamo). His research activity is mainly devoted to the study of metallic materials, corrosion of materials and microstructural analysis of materials. His research in the field of corrosion and protection of metallic materials concerned the study of environment-assisted cracking of high strength alloys. More recent research topics are related to the study of corrosion behavior of CRAs (corrosion resistant alloys) and light alloys manufactured by using innovative techniques of additive manufacturing (selective laser melting). Another field of research dealt with the study of the corrosion behavior of joints produced by using innovative technologies such as friction stir welding (FSW). Sergio Lorenzi sits on the International Advisory Board of the Journal of Applied Biomaterials and Functional Materials (Sage Pubblishing, IF: 1,403), and is an editorial board member of Buildings (MDPI Ag., ISSN 2075-5309). He has produced more than 150 scientific papers published in conference proceedings and journals, 72 SCOPUS-referred documents, an H-index of 18, and has been cited 975 times. He is also the co-author of 2 international patents.
