Maurizio Ferrari (Trento 25-06-1955) received a Doctorate in Physics degree from Trento University, Italy, in 1979/1980. Until 1989, he worked as a researcher with the Laboratoire de Physico-Chimie des Matériaux Luminescents, Lyon, France, and in 1989 he moved to Trento as a researcher with the CNR. He has been Director of Research at the Institute for Photonics and Nanotechnologies, CNR, where he was the Head of the IFN-CNR Trento unit until 31 December 2021. M.F. has been a Senior Associate at CNR-IFN since 01 July 2022. He has co-authored more than 600 publications in international journals, several book chapters, and he is involved in numerous national and international projects concerning glass photonics. Researcher ID: H-3362-2011; Orcid ID: 0000-0003-3723-5957. MF is SPIE and OPTICA Fellow. He has been member of several Scientific Committees and Chair of national and international conferences and workshops, a member of the evaluation committee at CNR and at national and foreign research institutions, and a research director and jury member of several PhD theses. He is a referee of several international scientific reviews in physics, photonics, and material science. His main scientific area of research is Glass Photonics and covers: properties, structure and processing of glasses, crystals, and films for optical applications; integrated optics; nanocomposite materials and confined structures including photonic crystals, waveguides, microcavities, and microresonators.
