The research interests of Dr. Xinyu Liu include the geotechnical characteristics of problematic soils and related disasters, the geotechnical behavior of weathered granite, diatomaceous soil, and coral gravel soil. Dr. Liu has published a total of 40 academic papers as either the first or corresponding author in journals such as Géotechnique, the Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, and the Canadian Geotechnical Journal. Dr. Liu has been funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the China Postdoctoral Foundation, State Key Laboratories in China, and the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of China, respectively. Moreover, Dr. Liu has been awarded the Top 100 excellent Ph.D. thesis of CAS, the Presidential Award of CAS, and a UCAS-BHPB Scholarship. In addition, Dr. Liu has been granted 10 patents in the USA and China, and 10 items of software copyright. Dr. Liu is an ASCE Affiliate Member, a young editorial board member of the International Journal of Mining Science and Technology, and a guest editor and reviewer for many SCI journals such as the Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering.
