Renata Sofia Araújo da Silva (RS) has completed her MSc in Toxicology, in 2006, at the University of Aveiro, and her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences - Specialty of Toxicology, at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), in 2013. She is currently Researcher at UCIBIO -Unidade de Ciências Biomoleculares Aplicadas, Laboratory of Toxicology of FFUP. RS published 80 articles in Peer Review International Journals (most of the journals Q1 on their respective fields) and two book chapters, presenting an h-index of 27 (~2590 citations). She works in the area (s) of Medical and Health Sciences, with an emphasis on Basic Medicine, highlighting the Toxicology, Pharmacology and Pharmacy fields. Her work is focused in the elucidation of the toxicological profile of drugs of abuse, as well as in the field of neurodegeneration and drug discovery, aiming at identifying new disease-modifying drugs with potential clinical purposes in neurodegenerative diseases. During the PhD and pos-doc research, RS developed advanced skills and competences in in vitro studies (cell culture of different cell lines, cytotoxicity, metabolism, type of induced cell death, among many others) and in analytical techniques.
