Prof. Pavel Krakhmalev has been a professor of materials science since 2012 at the Department of Engineering and Physics of Karlstad University, Sweden. He is the leader of the AT-LAB, the additive manufacturing laboratory at Karlstad University. He obtained his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering in 1999 at St. Petersburg State Technical University, Russia. His key scientific interests are focused on the microstructural aspects of additive manufacturing technology, the correlation between process control and final microstructure, as well as the microstructure–properties relationship in laser powder bed fusion materials. His current projects are related to Ti-based materials for biomedical applications, in situ alloying of metallic materials during laser powder bed fusion and laser manufacturing of tool steels.
