SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19, which was officially declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 11 March 2020, is transmitted from person to person through respiratory droplets and close contact and can cause severe respiratory failure and pneumonia. Currently, while the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing and countries are taking strict precautions to protect populations against infection, the most effective precautions still seem to be social distancing and wearing a mask. The question of how effective masks were in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic has been widely discussed, both in public and scientific circles, and the protection of different mask types has been examined. This study aimed to examine the comfort conditions provided by the different mask types to the user during use. For this purpose, single-ply, double-ply, three-ply, cloth, FFP1, FFP2, and FFP3 masks with different standards were examined, with and without a valve. To conduct the experiments, the novel thermal head measurement system, developed within the scope of this study, was used specifically for mask comfort studies. Thanks to the developed measurement system, the thermal resistance and water vapor resistance values of different masks were measured, and their comfort conditions were evaluated. According to the findings, cloth masks provide a comfortable condition, with lower thermal resistance and water vapor resistance values than other masks. In addition, it was observed that surgical masks offer better thermal comfort conditions, although they have lower protection than FFP masks.

In this paper, a capacitor type smart sensor fabric with conductive coaxial yarns is presented. Fabrics woven from specially prepared coaxial yarns were used as the sensing surface. When a person touches this fabric surface, the contact area should be as large as possible to achieve greater capacitive interaction. In order to investigate this interaction and optimize sensor performance, different fabric combinations were tried in the study. Using three different weaving types and three different tightness level parameters, 81 fabric pairs were created. According to the results of the study, the most suitable fabric combination was determined in terms of both sensory and comfort, and it was decided to use satin-shrill fabric on the upper floor and flat-treble fabric on the lower floor. The conductive coaxial yarns used are covered with an insulator to protect them against corrosion and short circuit. It has been observed that the designed system works better at low temperature and high humidity, as well as its sensitivity increases as the number of washes increases. The designed system can be used for products as it is made of woven fabric, comfortable, short circuit and corrosion resistant, portable and cost effective.

Ring spinning is the most important spinning system with its wide application area, high yarn quality and widespread usage in staple fiber spinning. Each parameter in the long process steps in the ring spinning system significantly influences the yarn quality. Within the scope of this study, the effects of the machine and construction settings on the sliver and yarn properties in each of the blowroom, carding, drawing, combing, roving and spinning processes are examined. In this context, the effect of many parameters such as carding parameters, sleeve type and size, combing type, yarn drawing and twisting settings on the quality characteristics of slivers and yarns have been observed. The effects of setting changes were investigated by examining the whole production process of cotton ring yarns with different yarn count and twisting properties. Breaking strength and elongation at break properties and hairiness, unevenness and imperfections of the materials were analyzed. The actual yarn manufacturing in the ring spinning mill was examined and the relations between production and quality were determined. It is thought that the results obtained will be useful for field studies and scientific researches related to ring yarn spinning

Giving comfort to the wearer without feeling physiologically and psychologically by the wearer, assuming the role of thermoregulation system against environmental temperature changes, and making them psychologically happy with their appearance and attitude characteristics makes it easier to adapt to the environment in which they live. Since all these functions of garments are generally defined as ‘clothing comfort' and aim to increase the living standards of people, the studies carried out to measure clothing comfort in the most realistic way are of great importance both academically and sectorial. In this study, it is planned to carry out the thermal mannequin system that can act to objectively evaluate together with the important parameters of thermal, humidity and pressure comfort, which are the most important criteria in determining the clothing choice of consumers, that can provide measurement in different ambient conditions, and that allows instantaneous measurements of temperature, humidity and pressure. Within this plan, a practical mannequin system has been designed for thermal, humidity and pressure comfort measurements and will allow measuring and evaluating many features at the same time. The thermal mannequin system will be produced with practical and reconfigurable 3D printing technology, which allows re-production, unlike the thermal mannequin mechanisms in the literature.
