The research activity of Dr. Aguzzi has been developed in the fields of Biopharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Technology and Regenerative Medicine. She publishes the results of its research activity in JCR journals included in the first quartile of their categories. Her h-index is 30, with more than 3000 citations. Currently she is focusing her attention on the development of therapeutic systems for tissue engineering and in particular scaffolds for skin regeneration. The relevance of the results obtained and their contribution to the generation of knowledge in this field include the development of nanostructured hybrid systems based on the interaction between phyllosilicates and chitosan oligosaccharides, able to significantly promote cell proliferation and migration in fibroblast cultures, as well as promote epithelialization and reorganization of skin tissue in animal models. She has also designed scaffolds based on mixtures of biopolymers, capable of simulating the fibrous structure and composition of the extracellular matrix. She currently leads the CTS-121 research group of the Junta de Andalucía.
