Dr. Liu Haiyang graduated from the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His main research areas include the development and utilization of aquatic animal genomic resources, as well as the genomic analysis and genome-assisted selective breeding of important economic traits. He has led three research projects, including those funded by the Guangzhou Municipal Government and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has also participated in several national-level projects, such as the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Characteristic Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System. Dr. Liu has published 32 SCI papers in journals such as DNA Research, Aquaculture, and Marine Biotechnology, with nine of them being either first-authored or corresponding author papers. His papers have been cited over 550 times, with an H-index of 14. His research achievements include the fine mapping of various snakehead genomes, the construction of high-density genetic linkage maps, and the analysis of important trait QTLs in snakehead. He has also studied the genetic diversity, population structure, and historical dynamics of snakehead populations, along with conducting GWAS analysis and genome-assisted selective breeding for important economic traits in snakehead.
