Target detection in UAV aerial images has found increasingly widespread applications in emergency rescue, maritime monitoring, and environmental surveillance. However, traditional detection models suffer significant performance degradation due to challenges including substantial scale variations, high proportions of small targets, and dense occlusions in UAV-captured images. To address these issues, this paper proposes DMF-YOLO, a high-precision detection network based on YOLOv10 improvements. First, we design Dynamic Dilated Snake Convolution (DDSConv) to adaptively adjust the receptive field and dilation rate of convolution kernels, enhancing local feature extraction for small targets with weak textures. Second, we construct a Multi-scale Feature Aggregation Module (MFAM) that integrates dual-branch spatial attention mechanisms to achieve efficient cross-layer feature fusion, mitigating information conflicts between shallow details and deep semantics. Finally, we propose an Expanded Window-based Bounding Box Regression Loss Function (EW-BBRLF), which optimizes localization accuracy through dynamic auxiliary bounding boxes, effectively reducing missed detections of small targets. Experiments on the VisDrone2019 and HIT-UAV datasets demonstrate that DMF-YOLOv10 achieves 50.1% and 81.4% mAP50, respectively, significantly outperforming the baseline YOLOv10s by 27.1% and 2.6%, with parameter increases limited to 24.4% and 11.9%. The method exhibits superior robustness in dense scenarios, complex backgrounds, and long-range target detection. This approach provides an efficient solution for UAV real-time perception tasks and offers novel insights for multi-scale object detection algorithm design.

The realization of high-precision target positioning requires the systematic suppression of nonlinear perturbations in the UAV optoelectronic system and the optimization of the cumulative deviation of coordinate transformations through error transfer modeling. This study proposes an error allocation method based on the improved raccoon optimization algorithm (KYCOA) to resolve the problem of degradation of positioning accuracy due to multi-source error coupling during UAV target positioning. Firstly, a multi-coordinate system transformation model is established to analyze the nonlinear transfer characteristics of the error, and the Taylor expansion is used to linearize the error transfer process and derive the synthetic error model under the geocentric coordinate system. Secondly, the KYCOA is proposed to optimize the error allocation by combining the good point set initialization strategy to enhance the population diversity, and the golden sine algorithm to improve the position updating mechanism in response to the defect of the traditional optimization algorithm, which easily falls into the local optimum. Simulation experiments show that the positioning error distance of the KYCOA is reduced by 66.75%, 41.89%, and 62.06% when compared with that of the original Coati Optimization Algorithm (COA), Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), and Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), respectively. In the real flight test, the target point localization error of the KYCOA is reduced by more than 40% on average when compared with that of other algorithms, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method in improving the target localization accuracy and robustness of UAVs.
Cross-view geo-localization (CVGL) is a critical technology used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and widely applied in navigation and target localization tasks. However, owing to the extreme perspective disparity between UAV oblique views and satellite vertical views, CVGL still involves significant challenges, including geometric distortion caused by viewpoint differences, drastic appearance inconsistencies, and the difficulty in bridging semantic gaps between heterogeneous data. To address these issues, we propose a novel CVGL method named dynamic-feature collaborative optimization and semantic-alignment network (DFSA), designed to extract robust feature representations and achieve fine-grained alignment. Specifically, the DFSA employs a residual-based vision transformer as the backbone to capture global context while alleviating the training instability and feature collapse often associated with standard transformers. To bridge the semantic gap between global and local features, we design a feature optimization module comprising a local feature enhancer and a global feature aggregator. This module establishes a closed-loop collaborative system that facilitates top-down semantic guidance and bottom-up detail feedback. Furthermore, we introduce a semantic segmentation and alignment module that adaptively partitions images into semantic regions based on feature response distributions, shifting the matching granularity from the global level to the semantic region level to effectively overcome feature mismatches caused by positional offsets and scale variations. Extensive experiments conducted on the University-1652 and SUES-200 datasets demonstrate the superior image retrieval performance of the proposed DFSA. Specifically, DFSA achieves a Recall@1 of 94.87% and an Average Precision (AP) of 95.32% on the University-1652 dataset and maintains highly competitive Recall@1 performances between 96.83% and 99.25% across various altitudes on the SUES-200 dataset. These results validate the model’s effectiveness in handling extreme viewpoint changes for UAV-based cross-view image retrieval tasks.
