José Guilherme Tralhão completed his M.Sc. in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (FMUC) and two Ph.D. —one from FMUC, the other from the Faculty of Medicine, Paris Descartes University. He is an Assistant Professor at FMUC and a Graduated Hospital Assistant in the Surgery Service A of Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra. His main areas of research are general surgery, especially of the pancreas, hepatobiliary and coloproctology, the study of pre- and postoperative hepatocellular function, oncology with special emphasis on primary liver tumors and colorectal cancer with an aim of finding new therapies against these types of tumors.
