Information

Vitalijs Radenkovs, Dr.sc.eng., serves as a Senior Researcher at the Unit of Processing and Biochemistry, Institute of Horticulture (LatHort), and the Research Laboratory of Biotechnology, LLU. He completed his studies at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Faculty of Food Technology in 2015, successfully defending his thesis in the field of biotechnology. Drawing from his extensive theoretical knowledge gained during his studies and practical skills acquired in the laboratory since 2010, his focus encompasses the chemical composition of food products/raw materials/by-products and the development of applied analytical methods. During his postdoctoral work in Latvia and an internship at the Spanish National Research Council (CEBAS-CSIC) in Murcia, he specialized in working with analytical chromatography systems such as HPLC-DAD-ESI/MSn, UHPLC-ESI-TQ-MS/MS, UPLC-ESI-QTOF/MS, LC-SFC-SFE-TQ-MS/MS, and GC-MS. His primary research interests lie in: • Developing technological approaches for more efficient and rational uses of plant-derived by-products to create innovative food products; • Formulating environmentally friendly packaging and coating materials from renewable resources to extend the shelf life of fresh fruit; • Investigating the physical properties and biochemical composition of plant-derived by-products, intermediates, and products after enzymatic hydrolysis.
