Prof. Jun Wu is a Professor at the Nanjing Agricultural University. She was employed
as the deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Crop Genetics and
Germplasm Innovation, a scientist on the breeding post of the national pear
industry technology system, and the chief expert of the pear industry
technology system of Jiangsu Province. From 2010 to 2011, she went to the University
of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign as a visiting scholar. She received a PhD at the Shandong
Agricultural University, College of Horticultural Science and Engineering from
2000 to 2003. After obtaining the Ph.D. degree, she entered the Nanjing
Agricultural University for Postdoctoral research from 2005 to 2008. In addition,
she is an international member of the American Rosaceae Genome Genetics and
Breeding Executive Committee, an executive director of the Pear Branch of the
Chinese Horticultural Society, as well as an expert reviewer for the Journal of
Horticulture, Journal of Agricultural Biotechnology, and Journal of Nanjing
Agricultural University, etc. She has won the second prize in the National
Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize in the Natural Science
Award of the Ministry of Education and the first prize of the Agricultural
Technology Promotion Award of Jiangsu Province, etc. She has long been engaged
in research on the exploration and utilization of excellent pear resources,
genome and genetic variation, molecular breeding techniques, and germplasm
innovation.
