Rapid identification of pathogens with higher sensitivity and specificity plays a significant role in maintaining public health, environmental monitoring, controlling food quality, and clinical diagnostics. Different methods have been widely used in food testing laboratories, quality control departments in food companies, hospitals, and clinical settings to identify pathogens. Some limitations in current pathogens detection methods are time-consuming, expensive, and laborious sample preparation, making it unsuitable for rapid detection. Microfluidics has emerged as a promising technology for biosensing applications due to its ability to precisely manipulate small volumes of fluids. Microfluidics platforms combined with spectroscopic techniques are capable of developing miniaturized devices that can detect and quantify pathogenic samples. The review focuses on the advancements in microfluidic devices integrated with spectroscopic methods for detecting bacterial microbes over the past five years. The review is based on several spectroscopic techniques, including fluorescence detection, surface-enhanced Raman scattering, and dynamic light scattering methods coupled with microfluidic platforms. The key detection principles of different approaches were discussed and summarized. Finally, the future possible directions and challenges in microfluidic-based spectroscopy for isolating and detecting pathogens using the latest innovations were also discussed.

Text-to-speech (TTS) synthesizers have been widely used as a vital assistive tool in various fields. Traditional sequence-to-sequence (seq2seq) TTS such as Tacotron2 uses a single soft attention mechanism for encoder and decoder alignment tasks, which is the biggest shortcoming that incorrectly or repeatedly generates words when dealing with long sentences. It may also generate sentences with run-on and wrong breaks regardless of punctuation marks, which causes the synthesized waveform to lack emotion and sound unnatural. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end neural generative TTS model that is based on the deep-inherited attention (DIA) mechanism along with an adjustable local-sensitive factor (LSF). The inheritance mechanism allows multiple iterations of the DIA by sharing the same training parameter, which tightens the token–frame correlation, as well as fastens the alignment process. In addition, LSF is adopted to enhance the context connection by expanding the DIA concentration region. In addition, a multi-RNN block is used in the decoder for better acoustic feature extraction and generation. Hidden-state information driven from the multi-RNN layers is utilized for attention alignment. The collaborative work of the DIA and multi-RNN layers contributes to outperformance in the high-quality prediction of the phrase breaks of the synthesized speech. We used WaveGlow as a vocoder for real-time, human-like audio synthesis. Human subjective experiments show that the DIA-TTS achieved a mean opinion score (MOS) of 4.48 in terms of naturalness. Ablation studies further prove the superiority of the DIA mechanism for the enhancement of phrase breaks and attention robustness.

Background: Deep learning has advanced breast tumor prediction research, but traditional single‐modality models limit feature diversity and accuracy. Purpose: To develop and validate a multimodal deep learning approach that combines mammography and ultrasound imaging for improved breast tumor classification and enhanced clinical decision‐making. Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 663 female patients with breast lesions from 2018 to 2021, including 384 benign and 279 malignant cases. The two‐stage prediction model employed improved modality‐specific attention mechanisms: efficient channel attention (ECA‐Net) for ultrasound and convolutional block attention module (CBAM) for mammography. The fused features were input into a stacking ensemble module with logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), and Extra‐Trees (ET) as base learners, and multilayer perceptron (MLP) neural network as meta‐learner. Data was divided into training (464), validation (133), and test (66) sets with a 7:2:1 ratio. Results: The proposed multimodal prediction model—mammography ultrasound (MPM‐MU) achieved superior performance with an area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) Curve (AUC) of 87.9 ± 0.21%, representing improvements of 13.4% and 15.6% over attention‐enhanced mammography (74.5%) and ultrasound (72.3%) models, respectively. Ablation studies confirmed the effectiveness of both multimodal feature fusion and attention mechanisms in enhancing diagnostic performance. Conclusions: The multimodal prediction model—mammography ultrasound (MPM‐MU) with modality‐specific attention mechanisms demonstrated superior performance in distinguishing between benign and malignant breast tumors compared to single‐modality approaches. This approach assists radiologists in improving breast lesion classification accuracy and enhancing clinical decision‐making, potentially reducing unnecessary biopsies and improving diagnostic consistency.
