Joan Carles Domingo has a doctorate in Chemical Sciences and is a professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine in the Faculty of Biology at the University of Barcelona. He directs the Consolidated Group of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Targeted Drug Delivery Systems. He has published more than 80 articles in international journals, with an impact index of more than 400, and more than 20 book chapters in the area of lipid metabolism and its biotechnological applications. He has participated in more than 25 competitive projects with public funding and as many with private funding. He is the author of four patents, two of which are being exploited. In the last 15 years, he has focused an important part of his research on the development of nutritional and therapeutic applications related to Omega-3 fatty acids, especially DHA. Furthermore, in recent years he has worked on the relationship between lipid metabolism and inflammation.
