Biography

From the outset, my research has been centered on Pharmaceutical Care and Comprehensive Medication Management Services, with a particular focus on Medical Anthropology, social determinants of health, medicalization, medication-related morbidity and mortality, and innovative teaching methodologies. I have combined my academic duties with professional practice as a pharmaceutical care practitioner, and I am currently leading two research projects addressing the medicalization of poverty and social exclusion. I am also collaborating on a project investigating medication-associated solar risks. Currently, I serve as an Assistant Professor and Vice Dean at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Loyola University Andalusia. Key concepts of interest in my research include the Medication Experience, as a critical factor for understanding therapeutic nonadherence and its real impact on patient health, and Drug-Therapy Problems, to explore the evolving role of pharmacists in reducing medication-related morbidity and mortality—a pharmacological pandemic as prevalent as it is overlooked.
