The COVID-19 outbreak demonstrates how unprepared the world is for a different type of crisis, especially non-physical calamities. Revitalizing community involvement in disaster management is essential for making a community resilient. Due to differing sociocultural contexts, the resilience perceptions of communities in different parts of the world may vary. This study aims to understand community resilience factors after the COVID-19 disaster in Indonesia and Malaysia. Data from 2034 questionnaires using 5-interrelated domains in the Communities Advancing Resilience (CART) Toolkit Survey were collected. This study was conducted across Indonesia and Malaysia from March to April 2022. A quantitative-based cross-sectional study design and convenience sampling were applied. Respondents for this study were Indonesian and Malaysian citizens above 18 years of age who met the inclusion criteria. A total of 2034 respondents, 715 from Indonesia and 1,315 from Malaysia responded to the survey. The results suggest that Indonesian and Malaysian communities’ Transformative Potential and Informative-Communication domains differ significantly. Indonesian communities demonstrated a higher mean value on Transformative Potential domains than Malaysian communities did, while Malaysian communities indicated a higher mean value on Informative-Communication domains. This study concludes that compared to Malaysian communities, Indonesian communities have a more significant potential for transformation because they can frame collective experiences, gather, and analyze pertinent data, evaluate community performance, and develop resilience-building abilities. On the other hand, Malaysian communities are more resilient in providing information and communication. We found the need to develop a community resilience model that incorporates specific cultural and local requirements. Cooperation between the two countries would open many possibilities to emphasize the capability to bounce back sooner after a catastrophe such as the COVID-19 pandemic and achieve Sustainable Development Goals.

The strong competition allows medical schools to be highly selective in their admissions, with the aim of selecting only those students who are most likely to complete their medical education and presumably become good doctors; it also minimizes the number of poor performers or ‘strugglers’, who were reported in one study to account for academic. The validity of an admission criterion is defined as the degree to which it predicts an applicant’s performance during and after his or her undergraduate medical training, and reliability is defined as the reproducibility of the results obtained when a measurement is repeated on the same study sample. Several studies also show that several non-cognitive factors have a significant influence on academic success at university, additional to the influence of prior academic attainment. The purpose of this research is to assess the correlation between the selection tools and medical student’s academic performance through their Grade Points Average (GPA) over a four-year period. Pre-admission data were matched from students who entered Bandung Islamic University, Faculty of Medicine at the year 2012 – 2016 with their GPA. A cross-sectional study was conducted in 74 selected students who had completed the specific admission test. The variables examined were high school grades, Multiple Mini Interview (MMI), Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) test and a total of admission test score. The statistical was used SPSS and Spearman correlation test analysis. The result shows there were significant correlation and a weak relationship between MMI with 1st year GPA, 2nd year GPA, and 3rd year GPA. There was also a significant correlation and a moderate relationship between the total of admission test score with 2nd year GPA and 3rd year GPA. The conclusion is MMI was found to be steady predictor of Grade Point Average (GPA) yet the predictability of academic success is weak and increase for the early years and drops towards the end of the medical under graduated program. Total of admission test score was weak predictor for academic performance especially in the second and third year medical students.

Floods are natural disasters that often occur in various regions in Indonesia, causing significant material and non-material losses. Community resilience in the face of flood disasters is very important to minimize the impact of flood disasters. This study aims to analyze the comparison of community resilience to flood disasters between Dayeuhkolot Village and Buninagara Village. This research used a survey method with a quantitative approach conducted in September-December 2024, with 99 respondents from each village. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability to measure the level of community resilience. The analysis method used in this study is Mann-Whitney statistical test to compare differences in resilience between the two villages. The results showed that the level of community resilience in Dayeuhkolot Village was predominantly in the high (94%) and medium (4%) categories, while in Buninagara Village the majority were in the high category (93%) with a variation of 5% in the medium category and 2% in the low category. The Mann-Whitney test yielded a p-value of <0.001, indicating a significant comparison between the two villages in terms of flood resilience. This is due to factors in the dimensions of flood resilience such as connection and caring, resources, transformative potential, disaster management, and information and communication that influence. Dayeuhkolot Village is an urban area that shows mostly high and medium levels of community resilience to flood disasters, while Buninagara Village, which is a rural area, still has low levels of community resilience to flood disasters.

Diarrhea is one of the common diseases after flooding, especially in areas where people do not have access to sanitation and clean water. Diarrhea is a loose bowel movement accompanied by an increase in the frequency, weight or volume of feces. Increasing understanding through knowledge can encourage a person's actions. Knowledge is everything that is obtained as a result of sensing an object, which is known to be able to raise attention to be prepared. Readiness is a person's state of being ready to act and respond to a situation which is one of the efforts to reduce the impact of a disaster. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and readiness to prevent post-flood diarrhea in Bojongsoang Village, which is an area that often experiences flooding. This study used a rapid survey method with a cross-sectional approach on 210 respondents, samples were taken using a two-stage cluster method. The data for this study were obtained from a questionnaire on the level of knowledge and readiness to prevent post-flood diarrhea, then analyzed using a frequency distribution and Chi-square test on the SPSS application. The results showed that almost all respondents had a good level of knowledge, namely 186 people (88.6%) and most respondents also had good readiness, namely 118 people (56.2%). The results of the data analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the readiness to prevent post-flood diarrhea (p = 0.516). This is influenced by socioeconomic factors, namely the level of income and the number of dependents at home owned by each head of the family. This study is expected to be a basis for the government and related organizations in improving education in flood-prone areas to prevent the spread of post-flood diarrhea.
