Marek Płaczek, Assoc. Prof. PhD. Eng., is an Associate Professor at the Silesian University of Technology, Faculty of mechanical Engineering. He is employed in the Institute of Engineering Processes Automation and Integrated Manufacturing Systems, facility of mechatronics and design of technical systems. He is a member of the Professional Association in Modern Manufacturing Technology (ModTech) and International Union of Machine Builders. He is the Secretary and Managing Editor of the Journal Selected Engineering Problems. He is president of the Organizing Committee and member of the Scientific Committee of the international scientific conference ModTech Modern Technologies in Industrial Engineering. He was a keynote speaker at several international conferences. He serves on various journals and conference review committees. He was a contractor for research projects founded by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the National Centre for Research and Development. He received several awards for the high level of works presented at international scientific conferences. He is an author and co-author of ca. 60 papers in different journals and proceedings, including the SCI journals, with impact factor and three monographs.
