Breast cancer (BC) is a type of tumor that develops in the breast cells and is one of the most common cancers in women. Women are also at risk from BC, the second most life-threatening disease after lung cancer. The early diagnosis and classification of BC are very important. Furthermore, manual detection is time-consuming, laborious work, and, possibility of pathologist errors, and incorrect classification. To address the above highlighted issues, this paper presents a hybrid deep learning (CNN-GRU) model for the automatic detection of BC-IDC (+,−) using whole slide images (WSIs) of the well-known PCam Kaggle dataset. In this research, the proposed model used different layers of architectures of CNNs and GRU to detect breast IDC (+,−) cancer. The validation tests for quantitative results were carried out using each performance measure (accuracy (Acc), precision (Prec), sensitivity (Sens), specificity (Spec), AUC and F1-Score. The proposed model shows the best performance measures (accuracy 86.21%, precision 85.50%, sensitivity 85.60%, specificity 84.71%, F1-score 88%, while AUC 0.89 which overcomes the pathologist’s error and miss classification problem. Additionally, the efficiency of the proposed hybrid model was tested and compared with CNN-BiLSTM, CNN-LSTM, and current machine learning and deep learning (ML/DL) models, which indicated that the proposed hybrid model is more robust than recent ML/DL approaches.

Human skin diseases have become increasingly prevalent in recent decades, with millions of individuals in developed countries experiencing monkeypox. Such conditions often carry less obvious but no less devastating risks, including increased vulnerability to monkeypox, cancer, and low self-esteem. Due to the low visual resolution of monkeypox disease images, medical specialists with high-level tools are typically required for a proper diagnosis. The manual diagnosis of monkeypox disease is subjective, time-consuming, and labor-intensive. Therefore, it is necessary to create a computer-aided approach for the automated diagnosis of monkeypox disease. Most research articles on monkeypox disease relied on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and using classical loss functions, allowing them to pick up discriminative elements in monkeypox images. To enhance this, a novel framework using Al-Biruni Earth radius (BER) optimization-based stochastic fractal search (BERSFS) is proposed to fine-tune the deep CNN layers for classifying monkeypox disease from images. As a first step in the proposed approach, we use deep CNN-based models to learn the embedding of input images in Euclidean space. In the second step, we use an optimized classification model based on the triplet loss function to calculate the distance between pairs of images in Euclidean space and learn features that may be used to distinguish between different cases, including monkeypox cases. The proposed approach uses images of human skin diseases obtained from an African hospital. The experimental results of the study demonstrate the proposed framework’s efficacy, as it outperforms numerous examples of prior research on skin disease problems. On the other hand, statistical experiments with Wilcoxon and analysis of variance (ANOVA) tests are conducted to evaluate the proposed approach in terms of effectiveness and stability. The recorded results confirm the superiority of the proposed method when compared with other optimization algorithms and machine learning models.

The safe and sustainable design of rock slopes, open-pit mines, tunnels, foundations, and underground excavations requires appropriate and reliable estimation of rock strength and deformation characteristics. Cohesion (𝑐) and angle of internal friction (𝜑) are the two key parameters widely used to characterize the shear strength of materials. Thus, the prediction of these parameters is essential to evaluate the deformation and stability of any rock formation. In this study, four advanced machine learning (ML)-based intelligent prediction models, namely Lasso regression (LR), ridge regression (RR), decision tree (DT), and support vector machine (SVM), were developed to predict 𝑐 in (MPa) and 𝜑 in (°), with P-wave velocity in (m/s), density in (gm/cc), UCS in (MPa), and tensile strength in (MPa) as input parameters. The actual dataset having 199 data points with no missing data was allocated identically for each model with 70% for training and 30% for testing purposes. To enhance the performance of the developed models, an iterative 5-fold cross-validation method was used. The coefficient of determination (R2), mean absolute error (MAE), mean square error (MSE), root mean square error (RMSE), and a10-index were used as performance metrics to evaluate the optimal prediction model. The results revealed the SVM to be a more efficient model in predicting 𝑐 (R2 = 0.977) and 𝜑 (R2 = 0.916) than LR (𝑐: R2 = 0.928 and 𝜑: R2 = 0.606), RR (𝑐: R2 = 0.961 and 𝜑: R2 = 0.822), and DT (𝑐: R2 = 0.934 and 𝜑: R2 = 0.607) on the testing data. Furthermore, to check the level of accuracy of the SVM model, a sensitivity analysis was performed on the testing data. The results showed that UCS and tensile strength were the most influential parameters in predicting 𝑐 and 𝜑. The findings of this study contribute to long-term stability and deformation evaluation of rock masses in surface and subsurface rock excavations.

The energy and mass transition through Newtonian hybrid nanofluid flow comprised of copper Cu and aluminum oxide (Al2O3) nanoparticles (nps) over an extended surface has been reported. The thermal and velocity slip conditions are also considered. Such a type of physical problems mostly occurs in symmetrical phenomena and are applicable in physics, engineering, applied mathematics, and computer science. For desired outputs, the fluid flow has been studied under the consequences of the Darcy effect, thermophoresis diffusion and Brownian motion, heat absorption, viscous dissipation, and thermal radiation. An inclined magnetic field is applied to fluid flow to regulate the flow stream. Hybrid nanofluid is created by the dispensation of Cu and Al2O3 nps in the base fluid (water). For this purpose, the flow dynamics have been designed as a system of nonlinear PDEs, which are simplified to a system of dimensionless ODEs through resemblance substitution. The parametric continuation method is used to resolve the obtained set of dimensionless differential equations. It has been noticed that the consequences of heat absorption and thermal radiation boost the energy transmission rate; however, the effect of suction constraint and Darcy–Forchhemier significantly diminished the heat transference rate of hybrid nanofluids. Furthermore, the dispersion of Cu and Al2O3 nps in the base fluid remarkably magnifies the velocity and energy transmission rate.

In this work, the nonlinear Schrödinger’s equation is studied for birefringent fibers incorporating four-wave mixing. The improved tanϕ(ξ)2 -expansion, first integral, and G′G2 -expansion methods are used to extract a novel class of optical solitons in the quadratic-cubic nonlinear medium. The extracted solutions are dark, periodic, singular, and dark-singular, along with other soliton solutions. These solutions are listed with their respective existence criteria. The recommended computational methods here are uncomplicated, outspoken, and consistent and minimize the computational work size, which give it a wide range of applicability. A detailed comparison with the results that already exist is also presented.

Background and Aim: due to the rapid growth of data communication and multimedia system applications, security becomes a critical issue in the communication and storage of images. This study aims to improve encryption and decryption for various types of images by decreasing time consumption and strengthening security. Methodology: An algorithm is proposed for encrypting images based on the Carlisle Adams and Stafford Tavares CAST block cipher algorithm with 3D and 2D logistic maps. A chaotic function that increases the randomness in the encrypted data and images, thereby breaking the relation sequence through the encryption procedure, is introduced. The time is decreased by using three secure and private S-Boxes rather than using six S-Boxes, as in the traditional method. Moreover, the CAST encryption algorithm was modified to be used on the private keys and substitution stage (S-Boxes), with the keys and S-Boxes of the encryption algorithm being generated according to the 2D and 3D chaotic map functions. The proposed system passed all evaluation criteria, including (MSE, PSNR, EQ, MD, SC, NC, AD, SNR, SIM, MAE, Time, CC, Entropy, and histograms). Results: Moreover, the results also illustrate that the created S-Boxes passed all evaluation criteria; compared with the results of the traditional method that was used in creating S-Box, the proposed method achieved better results than other methods used in the other works. The proposed solution improves the entropy which is between (7.991–7.999), reduces the processing time which is between (0.5–11 s/Images), and improves NCPR, which is between (0.991–1). Conclusions: The proposed solution focuses on reducing the total processing time for encryption and decryption and improving transmission security. Finally, this solution provides a fast security system for surgical telepresence with secure real-time communication. The complexity of this work needs to know the S-Box creation method used, the chaotic method, the values of the chaotic parameters, and which of these methods was used in the encryption process.
