Jean-Marc Nuzillard received his PhD degree in Chemistry from the University of Paris-Sud in 1985 under the guidance of Pr. Henri Kagan and joined the CNRS the same year. After works in the field of total synthesis of indole alkaloids his interest shifted to the use of liquid-state NMR for natural product structure elucidation, the development of new NMR data acquisition and processing methods and the use of artificial intelligence for molecular structure elucidation from 1D and 2D NMR data. He received the Bronze Medal of CNRS in 1991 for the early works in these domains. He spent a sabbatical year in 1993-1994 in the NMR lab of Pr. Ray Freeman in Cambridge, UK. More recently, he was involved in natural product identification in mixtures for the dereplication of natural product extracts, thus leading him to practice cheminformatics. Jean-Marc Nuzillard is the author of more than 200 publications in peer-reviewed journal and of the LSD structure elucidation software.
