Information

SILVINA FADDA received her PhD in Biochemistry at the National Tucumán University (UNT) Argentina (1999). She had two foreign post-doctoral positions: 1. At the National Institute of Agronomy Research (INRA) Clermont Ferrand, France (2000-2003); and 2. In Spain, working at IRTA-Monells Spain on the EU project “Tradisausage” (2003 to 2004). Currently Dr. FADDA is a Senior Researcher of CERELA-CONICET and the responsible for the Proteomics Laboratory at CERELA. Her research approach integrates peptidogenic metabolism of Lactic Acid Bacteria, other proteolytic events during fermentation and the mechanisms employed by bacteria to survive harsh curing conditions during meat processing. At present, her recent project involves the study of Escherichia coli enterohemorrhagic (EHEC). The objective is to provide the meat industry with a scientific basis to control EHEC contamination by biological and innovative strategies based on the use of bioprotective lactic acid bacteria. In addition, she is involved in the direction of 7 PhDs and 2 graduate theses. Dr. FADDA has obtained national research grants and is involved in the responsible team of national and international research projects. She was Member of the Academic Committee of Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at UNT and is Directing Council Board member of CERELA. She has participated, in the COST ACTION, Farm Animal Proteomics FA1002 representing Argentina. Dr FADDA is author of 18 book chapters and 44 peer-reviewed publications.
