Prof. Pengyu Ren ECH Bantel, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas. He is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and AAAS. His research focuses on understanding the physical driving forces underlying biomolecular structures, dynamics, and interactions, and developing innovative computational models and software to study and design functional molecules and materials in silico. Ren and his team developed an advanced electrostatic model, AMOEBA, that incorporates atomic multipole, many-body polarization effects, and machine-learning approaches into biomolecular simulations and enables chemical accuracy in modeling molecular interactions.
