PhD in Physics.
Abstract of ability:
Hydrology has an important role in the management of the Peat Hydrological Unit (PHU). Hydrological characteristics of a region have a close relationship with the type of climate that affects the region. Our research focuses on the study of the hydrological and climatological characteristics of the PHU in the South Sumatra region. The results of the study of hydrological and climatological characteristics are used to build empirical relationships between the spatial and temporal variations of hydrological and climate parameters and the incidence of fires at PHU. The fire incident at the PHU is expressed by the number and distribution of hotspots. Our research combines the field measurement data from a measurement system called Sensory Data Transmission Service Assisted by Midori Engineering Laboratory (SESAME) with satellite measurement data. It is hoped that the results of our research can be used as a reference in the management of sustainable PHU, especially in the South Sumatra region.
Ongoing research:
• Can groundwater level be used as a fire control parameter on peatlands?
• What is the difference between the dynamics of hydrometeorological parameters during the normal season and during the extreme dry season?
