Dr. Maria Fusaro

Dr. Maria Fusaro, born in Padua, is a researcher (unlimited contract) of the Institute of Clinical Physiology, National Council of Research (CNR), Pisa, and Department of Medicine, University of Padua, Italy. Graduate in Medicine and Surgery, University of Padua, specializing in Nephrology; PhD in Medical Science, Clinical and Experimental Science; Specialize in Clinical Physiopathology; Habilitate for Associate Professor (Nephrology, Endocrinology, and Nutrition Science Area). Principal investigator of scientific activities concerning bone diseases and mineral metabolism, both secondary to pathologies (chronic renal failure, osteoporosis) or the use of drugs. In particular, the studies aim to establish associations between these pathologies and vascular calcification, fracturing events, and mortality. The main research topics of the study of the interaction between bone and bone-vascular crosstalk are vitamin K and vitamin D; furthermore, the use of drugs and their impact on bone and vascular health (e.g., Warfarin, PPI, and so on). Dr. Fusaro has published over 90 papers in peer-reviewed international journals indexed in PubMed. He has been invited as a speaker at major national and international congresses for lectures on the topic of vitamin K and mineral bone disorders in patients with chronic renal disease and in the general population.
