Internet of Things (IoT) devices are large in number, widely distributed, weak in protection ability, and vulnerable to various malicious attacks. Intrusion detection technology can provide good protection for network equipment. However, the normal traffic and abnormal traffic in the network are usually imbalanced. Imbalanced samples will seriously affect the performance of machine learning detection algorithm. Therefore, this paper proposes an intrusion detection method based on data augmentation, namely TMG-IDS. We name the proposed data augmentation model TMG-GAN, which is a data augmentation method based on generative adversarial networks (GAN). First, TMG-GAN has a multi-generator structure, which can be used to generate different types of attack data simultaneously. Second, we increase the classifier structure, which can optimize the generator and discriminator more efficiently based on the classification loss. Third, we calculate the cosine similarity between the generated samples and the original samples and other types of generated samples as a generator loss, which can further improve the quality of generated samples and reduce the class overlap area between the distributions of various generated samples. We conduct extensive experiments on two intrusion detection datasets, CICIDS2017 and UNSW-NB15. The experimental results show that compared with the advanced oversampling algorithm and the latest intrusion detection algorithm, the proposed TMG-IDS method has a good detection effect under the three indicators of Precision, Recall and F1-score.

The generative adversarial network (GAN) is usually built from the centralized, independent identically distributed (i.i.d.) training data to generate realistic-like instances. In real-world applications, however, the data may be distributed over multiple clients and hard to be gathered due to bandwidth, departmental coordination, or storage concerns. Although existing works, such as federated learning GAN (FL-GAN), adopt different distributed strategies to train GAN models, there are still limitations when data are distributed in a non-i.i.d. manner. These studies suffer from convergence difficulty, producing generated data with low quality. Fortunately, we found that these challenges are often due to the use of a federated averaging strategy to aggregate local GAN models' updates. In this article, we propose an alternative approach to tackling this problem, which learns a globally shared GAN model by aggregating locally trained generators' updates with maximum mean discrepancy (MMD). In this way, we term our approach improved FL-GAN (IFL-GAN). The MMD score helps each local GAN hold different weights, making the global GAN in IFL-GAN getting converged more rapidly than federated averaging. Extensive experiments on MNIST, CIFAR10, and SVHN datasets demonstrate the significant improvement of our IFL-GAN in both achieving the highest inception score and producing high-quality instances.

Open source software has been widely used in various industries due to its openness and flexibility, but it also brings potential software security problems. Together with the large-scale increase in the number of software and the increase in complexity, the traditional manual methods to deal with these security issues are inefficient and cannot meet the current cyberspace security requirements. Therefore, it is an important research topic for researchers in the field of software security to develop more intelligent technologies to apply to potential security issues in software. The development of deep learning technology has brought new opportunities for the study of potential security issues in software, and researchers have successively proposed many automation methods. In this paper, these automation technologies are evaluated and analysed in detail from three aspects: software vulnerability detection, software program repair, and software defect prediction. At the same time, we point out some problems of these research methods, give corresponding solutions, and finally look forward to the application prospect of deep learning technology in automated software vulnerability detection, automated program repair, and automated defect prediction.

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) plays a crucial role in advancing smart healthcare by facilitating the real-time collection and processing of medical data. These interconnected devices leverage Artificial Intelligence to assist practitioners in making data-driven decisions. However, IoMT’s dependence on communication protocols exposes it to significant security vulnerabilities. In response to this challenge, we propose a novel Meta-Intrusion Detection System (Meta-IDS) that employs a meta-learning approach to enhance the detection of both known and zero-day intrusions. Our approach seamlessly integrates signature-based and anomaly-based detection techniques, incorporating privacy-preserving methods essential for handling sensitive IoMT data. We rigorously evaluated our methodology using three publicly available datasets (WUSTL-EHMS-2020, IoTID20, and WUSTL-IIOT-2021). The results demonstrate remarkable accuracy rates of 99.57%, 99.93%, and 99.99% for signature-based detection, and 99.47%, 99.98%, and 99.99% for anomaly-based detection, coupled with impressively low misclassification rates of 0.0042%, 0.0006%, and 0.00004%, respectively. Through a comparative analysis with the state-of-the-art E-GraphSAGE model, considering metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, time complexity, and misclassification rate, we affirm the performance and reliability of the Meta-IDS. Our approach holds significant promise in bolstering cybersecurity within the IoMT network.

The food and agriculture sector is a cornerstone of critical infrastructure (CI), underpinning global food security, public health, and economic stability. However, the increasing digitalization and connectivity of operational technologies (OTs) in this sector expose it to significant cybersecurity risks. Blockchain technology (BT) has emerged as a transformative solution for addressing these challenges by enhancing network security, traceability, and system resilience. This study presents a comprehensive review of BT applications in OT security for food and agriculture CI, employing bibliometric and content analysis methods. A total of 124 relevant articles were identified from six databases, including the Web of Science Core Collection and MEDLINE®. Bibliometric analysis was conducted across five dimensions: publication year, literature type, journal distribution, country contributions, and keyword trends. The findings are meticulously organized through tables, charts, and graphs. The year 2018 marked a surge in research within this domain, with the IEEE Internet of Things Journal and IEEE ACESS emerging as the most prolific journals, each boasting nine publications. The United States, China, and India are at the forefront in terms of journal citation counts. Our analysis determined that a reference count of 37 serves as an appropriate threshold. Otoum Safa stands out as the author with the highest number of published articles, totaling four. Keywords such as “blockchain”, “internet of things”, “smart contract”, “security”, and “critical infrastructure” appear with significant frequency. The statistics, trends, and insights gleaned from this bibliometric analysis can guide researchers in the OTCI field to forge a coherent and logical research trajectory. Content analysis further identified six key research areas within this domain: identity authentication and data verification, secure access control, attack detection and perception, data security and protection, data backup and recovery, and attack assessment and attribution. Based on these insights, a general framework is proposed to guide future research and practical applications of BT in securing OT within food and agriculture CI. This study systematically analyzes the current research landscape, challenges, and opportunities for BT in securing the OT critical to food and agriculture CI. By bridging the gap between blockchain innovations and the operational needs of the food and agriculture sector, this work contributes to advancing strategic implementation and improving the security of CI systems.

Artificial Intelligence has been widely applied today, and the subsequent privacy leakage problems have also been paid attention to. Attacks such as model inference attacks on deep neural networks can easily extract user information from neural networks. Therefore, it is necessary to protect privacy in deep learning. Differential privacy, as a popular topic in privacy‐preserving in recent years, which provides rigorous privacy guarantee, can also be used to preserve privacy in deep learning. Although many articles have proposed different methods to combine differential privacy and deep learning, there are no comprehensive papers to analyze and compare the differences and connections between these technologies. For this purpose, this paper is proposed to compare different differential private methods in deep learning. We comparatively analyze and classify several deep learning models under differential privacy. Meanwhile, we also pay attention to the application of differential privacy in Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), comparing and analyzing these models. Finally, we summarize the application of differential privacy in deep neural networks.
