This study investigated the effect of sustainability performance on financial performance in developed and developing countries. It also aimed to determine the moderator effect of firm size. The factor for sustainability performance was listed in the BIST Sustainability Index for Turkey and the Dow Jones Sustainability Korea Index for South Korea. ROE, ROA, ROS, and MV/BV were used as financial performance factors. Companies included in the KOSPI 100 index for South Korea and the BIST 100 index for Turkey were examined. Panel regression analysis and Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) analysis were performed to determine the effect of the past value of financial performance factors on their current value. The results show that the impact of sustainability performance on financial performance differs between South Korea and Turkey. In addition, the moderator variable has a significant effect only on ROA (return on assets) for Turkey and on ROE (return on equity) and ROS (return on sales) for South Korea. The results of the GMM analysis show that the past ROA and ROE values affect the current values statistically and positively for South Korea. For Turkey, the past ROE, ROS, and MV/BV (Market Value/Book Value) positively affect the current values. In addition to theoretical implications, implications for policy-makers and practitioners are also presented. Finally, this study provides significant insights for decision-makers and policy-makers to improve sustainability and corporate responsibility in financial and other similar settings.

The volume of research in the social sciences is expanding rapidly, creating significant challenges in extracting meaningful insights from unstructured text, particularly from articles lacking a classification system. Analysing these high-volume texts offers numerous advantages, including the ability to automatically identify topic relevance and track thematic trends over time. Such insights are valuable for journal management and enable researchers to access detailed information about evolving areas of study. Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) is a widely used method for topic modelling, effectively extracting topics from textual data. However, its performance can be further enhanced through optimization techniques such as Genetic Algorithms (GA). This study introduces an intelligent GA-LDA framework designed to optimize word subsets for LDA, thereby improving its predictive capabilities. The proposed system is applied to a dataset of 928 abstracts from a Turkish-language academic journal specializing in accounting and finance, covering publications from 2005 to 2020. The genetic algorithm selects optimal word subsets for LDA analysis, with perplexity scores serving as the fitness function to guide the optimization process. Experimental results demonstrate that the GA-enhanced LDA significantly improves classification accuracy and topic modelling performance. This study not only underscores the potential of GA-LDA in handling unstructured text but also provides a robust tool for advancing automated content analysis in Turkish academic literature.

This study draws attention to the importance of sustainable development goals in the growth of countries along with environmental disasters and climate events in recent years. In addition to the human development indicator, Hickel (2020) created the Sustainable Development Index (SDI), which includes the sustainable development of countries, including life expectancy, education and income, as well as CO2 emissions and carbon footprint data. This study aims to examine the relationship between SDI, Globalization Index and financial development of developed and developing countries in the 1990-2019. As a result of the Mean Group (MG) test, it is found that the error correction parameter is negative and statistically significant in developed and developing countries. As globalization increases in developed and developing countries, SDI also increases in the long run. Financial development affects SDI negatively in the long run for developed and developing countries. It is predicted that with the inclusion of all countries in the globalization process, it will contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and the achievement of the goal of sustainable development.
