Dr. Lars Klimaschewski is a professor at the Institute of Neuroanatomy, Medical University Innsbruck, in Austria. He graduated as an MD from the University of Hamburg in 1991 and received a Ph.D. (Habilitation) in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Heidelberg in 1997. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Pathology (Center for Neuroscience) at Columbia University, New York, he became a Professor of Neuroanatomy at the University of Innsbruck in 1999. He was appointed ERASMUS coordinator from 2002 to 2008; Austrian representative of COST action B30 from 2006 to 2010; Head of the Institute of Histology & Embryology from 2015 onwards; Director of the Department of Anatomy, Histology, & Embryology from 2016 to 2019; and member of the board of the Anatomical Society from 2014 to 2017 (as President in 2018). Additionally, Dr. Klimaschewski was invited as a Guest Professor to Belgium (University of Antwerp), China (Capital University Beijing), Czech Republic (University of Brno), Serbia (University of Belgrade), and Spain (University of the Basque Country).
