Prof. Livia Manzella graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Rome, La Sapienza. From 1989 to 1994, she worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the laboratory of Prof. Bruno Calabretta at Temple and Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, USA. In 1996, she entered the Specialization School in Medical Genetics at the University of Catania, where she graduated in 2000 with honors. From 2003 to 2007, she was a Research Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, General Pathology section, of the University of Catania. In November 2008, she became a researcher in the Clinical Pathology field, first at the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the Department of Molecular and Clinical Biomedicine, and then, in 2014, at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine of the University of Catania. In March 2009, she graduated with a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Catania and obtained her medical license. Since 2009, she has taught Clinical Pathology in different degree courses at the University of Catania, including Medicine, Dentistry, Techniques of Psychiatric Rehabilitation, and Biomedical Laboratory Techniques. Her skills and expertise primarily include CML, cancer, biology, hematological malignancies, gene expression, molecular cell biology, and molecular biology.
