Tuo Wang received his B.S. in Chemistry from Nankai University in 2010 and earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2016. He continued at MIT for his postdoctoral training. He joined the Department of Chemistry, Louisiana State University as an Assistant Professor in 2017 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021. In August 2022, he joined Michigan State University as the Carl Brubaker Associate Professor in Chemistry. He received the 2019 Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award from Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), the 2020 CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the 2020 CAREER Award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the 2021 Anatole Abragam Prize from the International Society of Magnetic Resonance (ISMAR), and the 2023 Varian Young Investigator Award in Magnetic Resonance, awarded at 64th ENC Conference. His lab’s research mainly focuses on the development and application of solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to investigate the structure, dynamics and interactions of insoluble macromolecules in various biological systems such as the energy-rich plant biomass, disease-related fungal cell walls, proteins, and phospholipid membranes.
