Thar Baker is Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science/College of Computing and informatics at the University of Sharjah in UAE. He was a Reader in Cloud Engineering and Head of Applied Computing Research Group in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), UK. He received his PhD in Autonomic Cloud Applications from LJMU in 2010, and became a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) in 2018. He is a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE), as well as a member of ACM, iLM, and BCS. Dr. Baker has published numerous peer-reviewed research papers in multidisciplinary research areas including: Big Data, IoT, and Energy Routing Protocols. Dr. Baker has been actively involved as member of editorial board and review committee for a number of peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Network and Computer Applications (JNCA, Elsevier) and ACM Computing Surveys. He is an expert evaluator of UNISCO, Newton funds, British Council, Horizon 2020, and ICTFunds funding proposals.
