Dr. Senthil Bakthavatchalam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, Chennai, India. With over 12 years of academic and research experience, his work focuses on nanotechnology, environmental chemistry, and biomedical applications. He holds a Ph.D. from Anna University, where he pioneered the green synthesis of noble metal nanoparticles for antimicrobial and anticancer use. His current research explores photocatalytic hydrogen production, CO₂ reduction, pollutant degradation, and marine-derived nanomaterials for public health and environmental remediation. He has published 24 peer-reviewed articles, authored a book, and holds multiple patents on biosensors, antifungal nanomaterials, and biodegradable nano-packaging. His work has received over 220 citations (h-index: 7). Dr. Senthil is also an active science communicator and mentor, having guided numerous undergraduate projects. He has received the Young Researcher Award (ICBEST 2025) and Best Paper Award (NAAMS 2022). Beyond the lab, he promotes sustainability as SRMIST’s Eco Club Coordinator and contributes to institutional academic coordination.
