Information

Dr. Sabzali Javadov received his M.D. from the Russian Medical University, his Ph.D. from the Russian Cardiology Center, and his D.Sc. from Moscow University. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher and a visiting scientist at the Magdeburg Medical University (Germany), the National Institute of Cardiology (Hungary), the University of Bristol (United Kingdom), and Western University (Canada). Currently, he is a professor in the Department of Physiology at the UPR School of Medicine. Dr. Sabzali Javadov is an internationally recognized scientist with specific training and expertise in cardiac biochemistry and physiology. His research focuses on elucidating the role of mitochondria in cell death and cardiac dysfunction during coronary heart diseases such as myocardial infarction and ischemia-reperfusion, as well as in brain–heart crosstalk using various animal, organ, and cell models and systems. Also, Dr. Javadov is involved in developing new mitochondria-targeted therapeutic strategies for treating cardiac diseases. He has published over 120 journal articles and book chapters. He is a member of the editorial board for over 15 scientific journals and a grant committee member for several American and European grant foundations. His research is supported by grants from the PR Science, Technology, and Research Trust, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation.
