"Ernesto Enaguas Empig is an Associate Professor V with 27 years of teaching experience at Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). He earned his degree of Master of Science in Information Technology from Ateneo de Davao University in 2005. While currently teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate programs in Computer Applications at MSU-IIT, he is at the final stage of his dissertation leading to the degree of Doctor in Sustainable Development Studies at the same university. He had extensive administrative experience as the Dean of the College of Computer Studies and as Chairperson of the Department of Computer Applications for six and four years, respectively. His current research interests include applied computing for sustainable development within the context of CSI Nexus - RIDE (Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension in climate change, sustainable forest management, and ICT Nexus), such as IoT, embedded systems, applied AI, e-Learning, environmental computing, and computational social sciences. Prof. Empig has published scholarly articles on computer applications for the 17 SDGs and presented his research works at international conferences with topic niches on ICT for Sustainable Development. Being an associate professor, he is currently working on becoming an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary faculty and practitioner, focusing on the central role of ICT in addressing complex global sustainability challenges.
