Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) ship detection methods have achieved remarkable progress in recent years. However, unlike RGB images, the characteristics of SAR imaging will result in non-intuitive feature representations. Furthermore, due to the insufficient data of SAR images, existing methods relying on plenty of labeled SAR images may be hard to achieve promising performance. To address the aforementioned issues, a cross-modality feature transfer (CMFT) method is proposed in this paper, which enhances feature representations in the SAR modality by transferring rich knowledge in the RGB modality. First, we propose a multi-level modality alignment network (MMAN), which encourages the model to effectively learn modality-invariant features and alleviate the large cross-modality discrepancies by aligning features from multi-levels (scene level, local level, global level, and instance level). Second, to address the underperformance of samples with non-intuitive features in the modality alignment, we introduce a hard-sample supervision module (HSM) in the stage of feature extraction, which can thoroughly exploit the feature of hard-to-align samples by giving more optimization energy for them. Third, to enhance the discriminability of instance-level features, a feature complementary module (FCM) is customized to fully explore the potential complementary clues between instance-level features and context information for the instance-level feature alignment. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the CMFT outperforms state-of-the-art detectors. Compared to the baseline model, CMFT improves the accuracy by 3.1% mAP on the SSDD dataset and 3.4% mAP on the HRSID dataset, demonstrating its superior SAR ship detection performance.

In this paper, we investigate the problem of joint direction of departure (DOD) and the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in bistatic MIMO radar. A new bistatic MIMO radar with the distributed nested array is proposed. Based on the new array, the DOD and DOA estimation algorithm called automatically paired DR-ESPRIT based on the angle disambiguation algorithm by using the range information of targets is proposed. By designing distributed nested array and using Khatri-Rao product processing, the long baseline and short baseline in the transceiver arrays are virtually extended simultaneously. The non-ambiguous and high-accuracy sine estimations of the DOD and DOA can be accomplished using DR-ESPRIT algorithm and the range information of targets and the geometry of bistatic MIMO radar. The virtual extension of array aperture and high angle estimation accuracy can be achieved for the MIMO radar with automatic pairing and without increasing the number of antennas compared with traditional uniform linear MIMO array. And, the proposed corresponding algorithm gives significant improvement in the DOD and DOA estimation performance. The simulation results validate the theoretical algorithm.

This paper considers the underdetermined blind separation of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar signals that are insufficiently sparse in both time and frequency domains under noisy conditions, while traditional algorithms are usually applied in the ideal sparse environment. An effective separation method based on single source point (SSP) identification and time-frequency smoothed l 0 norm (TF-SL0) is proposed. Firstly, a preprocessing step of the moving average filter and a novel argument-based time-frequency SSPs detection are employed to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and signal sparsity of the observed signals, respectively. Then, the mixing matrix is obtained by using clustering algorithms. Secondly, to obtain the optimal solution of underdetermined sparse component analysis, the smoothed l 0 norm (SL0) is introduced to preliminarily achieve signal separation in the time-frequency domain. Finally, time-frequency ridge estimation is proposed to jointly enhance the reconstruction accuracy of the MIMO radar signals, and the time domain waveforms are recovered by the model of the signals. Simulations illustrate the validity of the method and show that the proposed method outperforms the traditional methods in source separation, especially in the non-cooperative electromagnetic case where the prior information is unknown.

Recently, magnetocardiography (MCG) has attracted increasing attention as a non-invasive and non-contact technique for detecting electrocardioelectric functions. However, the severe background noise makes it difficult to extract information. Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD), which is an entirely non-recursive model, is used to decompose the non-stationary signal into the intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Traditional VMD algorithms cannot control the bandwidth of each IMF, whose quadratic penalty lacks adaptivity. As a result, baseline drift noise is still present or medical information is lost. In this paper, to overcome the unadaptable quadratic penalty problem, an improved VMD model via correlation coefficient and new update formulas are proposed to decompose MCG signals. To improve the denoising precision, this algorithm is combined with the interval threshold algorithm. First, the correlation coefficient is calculated, to determine quadratic penalty, in order to extract the first IMF made up of baseline drift. Then, the new update formulas derived from the variance that describes the noise level are used, to perform decomposition on the rest signal. Finally, the Interval thresholding algorithm is performed on each IMF. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that this algorithm can effectively improve the output signal-to-noise ratio and has superior performance.
