Carlos Marmolejo Duarte is an academic and expert in urban planning and land economics. He obtained his PhD in Urban Management and Valuation from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2005, with a brief stay at the University of Salford in England.
He is a full professor at the UPC and his research focuses on the analysis of population concentration and dispersion from a metropolitan perspective in Latin America.
His notable contributions include a study on the impact of energy efficiency on residential prices in metropolitan Barcelona, where he examined how EPC energy labels influence the real estate market.
He has also worked on the analysis of the compliance of residential projects with urban planning regulations and on models to assess the economic viability of urban development in the 22@ area of Barcelona.
Additionally, she has researched the perception of the benefits and co-benefits of energy-efficient housing in Barcelona and studied the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the demographic distribution of Spain's metropolitan areas.
