Alfonso Domínguez Padilla (Albacete, Spain; 1973) is Full Professor (2023) at the Technical School of Agricultural and Forestry Engineers and Biotechnology (ETSIAMB) and Researcher at the Regional Centre of Water Research (CREA), University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM, Spain). He finished his studies in Agricultural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain (2000) and his Doctoral Thesis at the UCLM, Spain (2004). His research activity is related with the efficient use of water in agriculture: management of irrigation systems, regulated deficit irrigation in annual crops, and development of models for the management of water resources at basin, farm and plot scales, highlighting the development of the MOPECO model. His scientific production may be summarized as follows: co-author of 43 JCR papers (34 Q1 and 9 Q2); director of seven doctoral theses; participant in 20 competitive scientific projects (5 European: Project Manager (PM) of SUPROMED 2019-22, funded by PRIMA; 7 national: PM of 2; 8 regional: PM of 1); and participant in more than 100 international and national conferences. From 2016 to 2023, he was Associate Editor of the Spanish Journal of Agricultural Research. In 2005, he received the award “Best Doctoral Thesis 2005” given by the Regional Government of CLM, in 2018, the award given by the OCDE for carrying out a 1.5 month fellowship at USDA (Bushland, Texas), and in 2023, the Nexus award for the coordination of the SUPROMED project.
